Losing someone we love is one of the hardest things we may ever have to live with. Formed in 2013, Donor Families Australia is a national member-based independent support and advocacy group comprising families who have donated their loved one's organs and tissue. It's the only organisation of its kind in Australia specifically dedicated to Donor Families. Donor Families Australia is an independent organisation, completely directed by its membership to help improve the experience of Donor Families. We endeavour to work with all similar organisations such as those involved with organ and tissue donation in a collaborative manner for the betterment of all.

Adam passed away suddenly at the age of 32. He thoroughly enjoyed life and especially enjoyed the role of being father to his 1 year old daughter Zoe. He was a loving and social man with the biggest heart and always willing to give a hand to others in need. He continued this sentiment when he passed on by generously donating organs to five others patiently awaiting transplants. His family and friends are incredibly proud of his decision to become and organ and tissue donor in order to save lives.
Alysha was a fun-loving and gregarious soul with a huge heart. Alysha wished to be registered as an organ and tissue donor and discussed this desire with her close family prior to her passing at age 19. Alysha's family and friends are incredibly proud of her decision to save many lives through donating her organs and tissue and encourage others that wish to save lives through organ and tissue donation to 'have the conversation' with their family
Ben was a happy and optimistic child looking forward to surgery to straighten his back that would provide a better and brighter future. Unfortunately, during the surgery, there was a complication and Ben passed away at age 10. Ben's parents decided to donate Ben's organs (kidneys and heart/lungs) in order to save others' lives. Ben's family are advocates for organ and tissue donation and encourage writing and contact between Donor Families and recipients as a means to heal through the grieving process.
