Retina Australia is a national, charitable organisation dedicated to supporting people affected by retinal inherited diseases. We aim to do this by accelerating medical research into early detection, discovering preventions, and advancing better treatments, with the hope of progression towards unlocking cures into inherited retinal diseases. We also provide Information and Support Services.

As an independent organisation, Retina Australia funds and facilitates the top medical research into inherited retinal diseases. Since 1983, Retina Australia has invested over $6.4 million across more than 150 projects including progressive stem cell research, innovative gene therapies, and artificial vision projects such as the Bionic eye.
As a membership organisation, we also provide information about inherited retinal diseases. This includes details about the many different types of inherited retinal diseases, inheritance patterns, latest research developments, eye care professionals, assistive technology and tools, eye care strategies, along with practical guides for the newly diagnosed.
We also offer support through peer-to-peer social groups, phone assistance and referrals.
